A Divine Comedy
Art collectors and friends of artist Carlos Cancio recently had the chance to view firsthand his latest exhibition, “Teatro atemporal: La divina comedia,” at its inauguration in the Viota Gallery.
Teatro atemporal: La divina comedia” is a progression of the “Civilizaciones” exhibitions that Cancio has worked on since 2007. His work has been described as bearing a deep language, making contact with spectators and creating an atmosphere of contemplation and mystery.
In this exhibition, the artist delved into the themes of Dante's Divine Comedy, creating a game with such characters as Beatrice, Eunoé and Dante Alighieri himself, among others.
The exhibition includes paintings and sculptures in large and medium format. Also at the exhibition is “Beatriz,“ a sculpture which he exhibited in Viota Gallery's anniversary exhibition “The New Phase.” —R. Z. V.
