Light by day and dark by night,men's wear this summer is refined and elegant. Buttoned down jackets and tailored pants are a hit. For a slick evening look, wear a buttoned down shirt with a tie and closed jacket with tailored pants, in the same color scheme, such as Hugo Boss' collection shows. For daywear, sport a t-shirt and an open jacket along with tailored pants.

Mango pushes the European version of the preppy look, incorporating thin cardigans, scarves and sandals.

That doesn't mean color is out of the picture. Designers such as Custo Barcelona incorporated vivid colors and patterns into his menswear collection.

And for accessories, thin belts seem to be the ideal piece for tailored pants. Black and brown are the favorites; they are easy to match with any color palette.
